Update on Matthew Dec. 2022

Matt just called me after not hearing from him for several days. He sounded awful; worse than I’d ever heard him during any time during his incarceration.
He sobbed as he told me he was sorry for “killing himself”. He believes that he jumped off of the bridge and I told him he did not kill himself and was alive or I wouldn’t be taking to him. He then told me that my voice scared him and sounded distorted. He kept saying he needed to hang up and then he just hung up after I said I Loved him.
My heart can’t hurt any more than it already has, and it has come to the place where it’s easier to NOT hear from him.
I talked to his public defender and updated him on Matt’s condition. He told me that they were waiting for a Transfer to the Oregon State Hospital, and I told him that I was afraid that Matt may harm himself or kill himself before he ever gets out of jail. He said he would talk to a couple of organizations that are working on Matt’s transfer and get back to me. I pray that someone will be able to pull some strings and get Matt to a therapeutic setting ASAP.
I have also emailed a couple of News people in hopes to get Matt’s story out there, and speak about the horrible broken Mental Health system we have here in Oregon; and most everywhere you live.
I’ve added the update from my WordPress blog that I wrote at the end of Nov. if anyone wants to read it.
Please continue to keep Matt in your prayers. Matt just called me after not hearing from him for several days. He sounded awful; worse than I’d ever heard him during any time during his incarceration.
